Furano is the pefect base to enjoy the whole of the Central Hokkaido Region.

Furano is a great little town nestled in the very centre of Hokkaido. Because of it's inland location Furano enjoys on average 9 metres a season of exceptionally light powder. It is the perfect base to enjoy the awesome skiing and riding that the central Hokkaido region has to offer. The terrain and powder of the local Furano area was made famous by Shaun White's Big in Japan movie. With so many ski resorts and the backcountry of Asahidake and Tokachidake only a short drive away, why choose anywhere else?

Furano has an awesome ski area with great terrain, snow and no crowds. Furano ski area has something for everyone: wide open trails catering from beginner to advanced. It also has some excellent off-piste skiing and riding for the powder hounds out there! Although the off-piste is more restricted than Niseko, the ski area is now making a concerted effort to open more of the previously out of bounds areas. If you haven't been here for a couple of years, you may be suprised!

Furano also has the advantage that as it is a real town not just a ski resort it has all the ammeneties you need, supermarkets, shops, bowling and of course, many bars and restaurants! Many resorts in Japan are just resorts, if you need food you are limited to the food in your hotel, whatever you can find at a convienice store or trying to take taxis or buses to the nearest town. Furano is a town that has all the convience and facilities of a town.... it also happens to have a great ski area!

Regular Buses and Trains make Furano easy to get to and takes a similar time as getting to Niseko from New Chitose(Sapporo) Airport.
